Summerset

Summerset is a new Honeycrisp and Fuji cross, and can perhaps be regarded as an improved Honeycrisp with a bit of tartness.‘Summerset’ ripens at the same time as ‘Honeycrisp’ but has more of a pink color than a bright red. The apple has a crispy texture and a flavor that is different from ‘Honeycrisp.’ In consumer taste tests Summerset was actually preferred over Honeycrisp. It ripens toward the end of September, and has a hint of Fuji's tart flavor with Honeycrisp's sweet flavor.. They can be stored in a fridge for 3 months or more. Excellent for eating out of hand, applesauce or baking.
